  • Title: HAPPA-NL - MiracleCloud :: Horse and Pony Protection Association of Newfoundland and Labrador
Descriptive info: On February 15, 2004, Patsy, a 25 year old white Newfoundland Pony gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, a stud colt.. Unfortunately, Patsy passed away 24 days later.. We started to feed the foal 2% milk with Pectin on March 10 and he took to the milk just fine.. The next day we tried something that was iffy.. We put the foal in the field with 35-year-old Cloudy Girl, also a Newfoundland Pony, which had showed a lot of interest in the foal.. Well, a miracle happened, the mare adopted the new foal and looked after him  ...   and taught him to stay out of trouble, just like any mom would.. Before long the foal even suckled off the old mare and she produced the milk the foal needed.. For obvious reasons we called him Miracle Cloud! He quickly became a frisky youngster, too lively for some of his older companions.. We have since found a permanent loving home for him.. From recent reports, he is doing quite well and is healthy and content.. 35 Year Old Newfoundland Pony does her Part to Save a Colt.. Date:.. Feb 2004.. Patsy Her Foal.. • Title: HAPPA-NL Barn Project
Descriptive info: Help HAPPA Build a New Barn.. HAPPA Barn Fundraising Campaign.. The current barn has been at or over capacity for the past four years.. 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 have each been record years with more cases of equine abuse neglect and cruelty than ever recorded in the past in this province.. This increased activity and reliance on HAPPA-NL to intervene on neglected, abused, unwanted and lonely horses and ponies has caused an immediate need for a much larger and better equipped facility at our Hopeall Sanctuary.. HAPPA-NL operates the only equine sanctuary and rescue shelter in Newfoundland and Labrador.. The current main barn (small red structure on the right on the picture above) can accommodate up to eight horses or ponies in standing stalls.. This structure measures about 20’X24’ and will remain as an overflow at peak times and as a storage area.. We have a hay barn and a small baby barn.. The most horses and ponies we have ever accommodated at the Hopeall Sanctuary was 16.. This was for a short period of time as the barn structures just could not accommodate the horses and ponies for any duration.. The new barn is an absolute necessity.. We presently have 8 equines at the HAPPA-NL Sanctuary.. We regularly  ...   dug well.. This well supplies good clean water reliably for only about 9 months of the year.. We have freezing problems in the coldest winter months and every summer our well is normally dry from mid July until mid September.. During times when we have no water on our site, we rely on the help of volunteers to truck barrels of water to our facility.. It is our goal to have a proper well dug and have running water in the new barn.. Please help us build this new barn by donating, sponsoring, volunteering and by spreading the word to let others know of the need and our project goals.. Together we can build this barn!.. We are sure once we build it we can do more for many more horses and ponies in need.. Every dollar puts us closer to the goal of opening a larger and better barn / stable / rescue shelter.. Fundraising will continue through to the time of construction which is planned commence by late summer 2012 to be ready for next winter.. Approximate building width - 30’ to 36’.. Approximate building length - 72’ to 80’.. PROJECT SPONSORS ARE WELCOME.. Put your name or company on the barn.. Sponsorship opportunities exist.. Contact us for details..
